The Pirates placed relief pitcher Chris Devenski on the 15-day injured list Thursday with an undisclosed illness.
Pittsburgh recalled fellow right-hander Cam Sanders from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding transaction.
Devenski, 35, just completed a two-game suspension for throwing at Cincinnati’s Sal Stewart on Saturday.
Devenski has a 7.71 ERA without a decision in three relief appearances this season. He owns a 27-22 record with a 3.93 ERA in 319 career games (eight starts) with seven teams. He was an All-Star with the Houston Astros in 2017.
Sanders, 29, has no decisions and a 12.00 ERA in three appearances this season out of the Pittsburgh bullpen.
